You are cordially invited to the Finissage of MIND MAP CITY at Kunsthalle M3, Mengerzeile 1-3, 12435, Berlin on 02/11/2012 from 19:00 - 21:00 hours.

In her project Mind Map City Ann Mc Cormick explores the relationship between painting and real space. What happens when images unfold into 3-D space. 
She also explores themes of the urban environment and the perception of space, the ties between art and the environment, materials and context, art criticism and marketing. 

 Ann Mc Cormick studied painting in Cork and Belfast and presently lives and works in Berlin. 
Her points of reference are the works of the Abstract Expressionists and the German Experimental artists of the 20th century." 

Group and solo shows (The Triskel, The Peacock Gallery) in Ireland, Great Britian, Germany and USA. 



Martin Fonfara, percussionist and composer (Grips Theater) has composed and arranged a sound installation for Mind Map City. 
Martin tours with his groups but also as a guest musician with various jazzformations. 

Study of music UDK-Berlin with Jerry Granelli, David Friedman, Sigi Busch.
Landesjazzorchester Berlin, Bundesjazzorchester (Peter Herbolzheimer) Neuköllner Oper, GRIPS-Theater, Deutsches Theater, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Jazz-Units Berlin.
Guest musician/appearences in Spain, Russia, Lithuania, Lettland, Estonia, Austria, Chechnya, Poland and Turkey.



In ihrem Projekt MIND MAP CITY befragt Ann Mc Cormick das Verhältnis von Malerei zum realen Raum.
Was geschieht, wenn Bilder sich in den sie umgebenden Raum ausfalten, wenn sie dreidimensional werden? In MIND MAP CITY beschäftigt Ann sich aber auch mit dem Erleben von urbanen Räumen und damit, wie diese unsere Wahrnehmung neu prägen. MIND MAP CITY verhandelt die Beziehung von Kunstwerk und Umwelt, Kontext und Materialität, Kritik und Vermarktung. 


Ann Mc Cormick studierte Malerei in Cork und Belfast und lebt und arbeitet heute in Berlin. 

Ihre Bezugspunkte sind z.B. der abstrakte Expressionismus oder die deutsche experimentelle Malerei der zwanziger Jahre. Gruppen- und Einzelausstellungen (The Triskel, The Peacock Gallery) in Irland, Großbritannien, Deutschland und USA. 


Martin Fonfara, Schlagwerker, Percussionist und Komponist (GRIPS-Theater), hat die Soundinstallation für MIND MAP CITY eingerichtet. Martin tourt mit eigenen Bands, aber auch als Gastmusiker mit verschiedenen Jazzformationen.
